Pull Me Under by Dream Theatre
Lost in the sky
Clouds roll by and I roll with them
Arrows fly
Seas increase and then fall again
This world is spinning around me
This world is spinning without me
Every day sends future to past
Every breath leaves one less to my last
Watch the sparrow falling
Gives new meaning to it all
If not today nor yet tomorrow then some other day
Ill take seven lives for one
And then my only fathers son
As sure as I ever did love him
I am not afraid
This world is spinning around me
The whole world keeps spinning around me
All life is future to past
Every breath leaves me one less to my last
Pull me under pull me under
Pull me under Im not afraid
All that I feel in honor and spite
All I can do is set it right
Dust fills my eyes
Clouds roll by and I roll with them
Centuries cry
Orders fly and I fall again
This world is spinning inside me
The whole world is spinning inside of me
Every day sends future to past
Every step brings me closer to my last
Pull me under pull me under
Pull me under Im not afraid
Living my life too much in in the sun
Only until your will is done
Lost in the sky
Clouds roll by and I roll with them
Arrows fly
Seas increase and then fall again
This world is spinning around me
This world is spinning without me
Every day sends future to past
Every breath leaves one less to my last
Watch the sparrow falling
Gives new meaning to it all

The God that Failed by Metallica
Pride you took
Pride you feel
Pride that you felt when youd kneel
Not the word
Not the love
Not what you thought from above
It feeds
It grows
It clouds all that you will know
Deceit
Deceive
Decide just what you believe
I see faith in your eyes
Never your hear the discouraging lies
I hear faith in your cries
Broken is the promise, betrayal
The healing hand held back by the deepened nail
Follow the God that failed
Find your peace
Find your say
Find the smooth road in your way
Trust you gave
A child to save
Left you cold and him in grave
It feeds
It grows
It clouds all that you will know
Deceit
Deceive
Decide just what you believe
I see faith in your eyes
Never you hear the discouraging lies

Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...
Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday...Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...
Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper

Pitiful by Blindside
As I recall with my stomach turning
I was hiding away from myself, away from you
Like nothing, though something was terribly wrong
And I admit that I was only waiting for the right time
Night time, the right moment for you to look away
Though you never did, I pretended for a while
So I could walk where I don't belong
And I remember every word you said
Come back in time, come back
And I remember I would soon be dead
Now so pitiful, so pitiful
But I know, as I hammered those nails into your beautiful hands
Your eyes still try to search for mine, but I look away
Now your eyes are the only thing that can save me
I'm still so afraid of them piercing
You're breaking into my prison,
Just pretended for a while
My soul is dying
I won't look away
And I remember every word you said...
I'll remember every word you said
This time I won't look away
As I recall with my stomach turning
I was hiding away from myself, away from you
Like nothing, though something was terribly wrong
And I admit that I was only waiting for the right time
Night time, the right moment for you to look away
Though you never did, I pretended for a while
So I could walk where I don't belong
And I remember every word you said

You're breaking into my prison,

This time I won't look away

Movie clip
A clip of a movie from Rob Bell - that talks about death and our reaction to it. I have the whole 14 minute clip if interested. We would have to redirect from death to resurrection. Why does death hurt so bad?

New Life by John P. Kee
Oh what a change
Has come over me
My life has detoured
A life of misery
From darkness
You gave me light
All the wrong in my life
You came and made it right
Chorus:
He has given us new life
He has given us new life
Oh what a change
Has come over me
My life has detoured
A life of misery
From darkness
You gave me light
All the wrong in my life
You came and made it right
Chorus:
He has given us new life
He has given us new life

Restoration by Tonex
Lord here I am, Lord please have mercy on me.
I left your side, so now I'm making my plea.
I tried to pretend that everything was okay,
Deep in my heart I knew better Lord.
Running around in circles of sin,
Lord I chose you before and now I choose you again.
Restoration, Lord I know that I've gone way too far.
Restoration, Lord I know I've been running for way too long.
I compromised; hanging out with friends from my past.
I thought no harm done, but my flesh took over in a flash.
Even when I was with them my mind wasn't there,
For I knew if you came Lord that I'd be left.
So like the lost sheep that has gone astray,
I went back in the fold and now I'm back here to stay.
Restoration, Lord I know that I've gone way too far.
Restoration, Lord I know I've been running for way to long.
Raise your hands, He'll reclaim you, He'll restore you, and restoration begins.
Raise your hands, He'll reclaim you, He'll restore you, and restoration begins.
Give it up, turn it loose, just surrender, and restoration begins
Give it up, turn the world loose, just surrender, and restoration begins.
Lord here I am, Lord please have mercy on me.
I left your side, so now I'm making my plea.

Dark Night of the Soul by Shai Linne
Intro:
Be glorious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; My life is spent
With sorrow and my years with sighing; my strength fails because
Of my iniquity, and my bones waste away (Psalm 31: 9, 10)
Hook:
Something evil lies within
I don’t know if this night will end
I’m wondering if the sun will rise again
Dark night of the soul
I can’t deal with this on my own
I’ve never felt so far from home
How can this be? It’s like I’m all alone
Dark night of the soul
Verse 1:
I’m feeling worthless- On some ‘I don’t know what’s the purpose’
And most stay on the surface telling me ‘Enjoy life’
But I can’t unwind and embrace it,
Thinking of all the time that I’ve wasted
All the forbidden wine that I’ve tasted
Can I speak with candid speech? The man’s weak
A stranded sheep who pants and weeps- I can’t sleep
I’m surrounded by His lens- I feel like asking for death
Because I’m drowning in my sins and I’m gasping for breath
It’s all real as it gets, every night my pillow is wet
Looking for God’s face but barely see His silhouette
A dry hour in my well of hope
The Lord feels so far away I couldn’t see Him with a high powered telescope
Asking Him to be nearer, but the sad fact couldn’t be clearer
My greatest enemy is looking back at me in the mirror
A hard sight to behold
My heart’s not right; spark the light to ignite this dark night of my soul
Hook:
Verse 2:
I feel naked and stranded, forsaken and abandoned
I’ve taken God for granted by breaking His commandments
It’s obvious I’m losing my hope
Because I’m thinking ‘Who should I quote in my suicide note?’
I’ve been crushed into grains of pebbles
I’m ashamed that I’m a rebel and I can’t even blame it on the devil
I’m a vile man for real- chained to my pride
And my smile can’t conceal the pain that’s inside
Because His hand is heavy on me; Man this weather’s stormy!
My soul needs refuge; I know my debt’s huge
I’m needy and thirsty- diseased and teary-eyed
Lord, please hear my cries because I’m pleading for mercy
I need you to heal me of my brokenness!
Show me a sign of Your favor and seal it with a holy kiss!
It all seemed lost, then I took another look at the cross and
Saw again that the Lord is my portion

Ready to Die by Notorious B.I.G. (we might only need the 1st verse)
As I grab the glock, put it to your headpiece
One in the chamber, the safety is off release
Straight at your dome homes, I wanna see cabbage
Biggie Smalls the savage, doin your brain cells much damage
Teflon is the material for the imperial
mic ripper girl stripper the Henny sipper
I drop lyrics off and on like a lightswitch
Quick to grab the right b**** and make her drive the Q-45,
glocks and tecs are expected when I wreck s***
Respect is collected, so check it
I got techniques drippin out my buttcheeks
Sleep on my stomach so I don't f*** up my sheets, huh
My s*** is deep, deeper than my grave G
I'm ready to die and nobody can save me
F*** the world, f*** my moms and my girl
My life is played out like a jheri curl, I'm ready to die
As I sit back and look when I used to be a crook
Doin whatever it took from snatchin chains to pocketbooks
A big BAD motherf***er on the wrong road
I got some drugs tried to get the avenue sold
I want it all from the Rolexes
to the Lexus gettin paid, is all I expected
My mother didn't give me what I want, what the f***?
Now I got a glock, makin motherf***ers duck
S*** is real, and hungry's how I feel
I rob and steal because that money got that whip appeal
Kickin niggaz down the steps just for rep
Any repercussion lead to niggaz gettin wet
The infrared's at your head real steady
You better grab your guns cause I'm ready, ready
I'm ready to die!
(Nah we ain't gon' kill your a** yet)
(We gonna make you suffer)
In a sec I throw the tec to your f***in neck
Everybody hit the deck, Biggie bout to get some wreck
Quick to leave you in a coffin, for slick talkin
You better act like CeCe, and keep on walkin
When I hit ya, I split ya to the white meat
You swung a left you swung a right you feel to the concrete
Your face, my feet, they meet, we're stompin
I'm rippin MC's from Tallahassee, to Compton
Biggie Smalls on a higher plane
Niggaz say I'm strange deranged because I put the 12 gauge to your brain
Make your s*** splatter
Mix the blood like batter then my pocket gets fatter
after the hit, leave you on the street with your neck split
down your backbone to where your motherf***in cheek drip
The s*** I kick, rip it through the vest
Biggie Smalls passin any test, I'm ready to die!
As I grab the glock, put it to your headpiece
One in the chamber, the safety is off release
Straight at your dome homes, I wanna see cabbage
Biggie Smalls the savage, doin your brain cells much damage

Legacy by Da' T.R.U.T.H. (3rd verse is crucial)
[Intro]
This song is a tribute
To the families and loved ones of Cassie and Rachel
The two young ladies that were martyred
At the incident at Columbine High School in 1999
[Verse One]
Who would have known that a couple of guys from Columbine
Would come from behind- put guns to the spine
Of some innocent people- the teachers, the students
The feet of the teachers are screeching through rooms
The mood has been set by the fear of the villains
The bombs and the threats are by Eric and Dillon
America's villains- generic you're feeling
It is not- it is the plot for a pair that is chilling
In the glorious heavens, standing for Christ in a crisis
I know that it's rare what I'm feeling
Excitement incited- declaring the Pilgrims'
Faith and their fate I'ma share with my children
Cassie and Rachel, the past of the patrons
That passed through the ages in Africa, Asia
The Master that saved you, the laughter, the hatred
Jesus predicted that the masses would hate you
[Hook]
So, don't think it strange if a change might occur
If it does, are you ready and prepared for the curve
And a turn for the worst- would you fight, would you fall
Would you die for the Christ, that's the price of the call
[Verse Two]
Frustrated by the snares and the toils, parents annoy you
Truth of the matter is we're arrogant, spoiled
America's soil has soiled us, sort of
And pastors insist on declaring us royal
And it's true that we are but we take it too far
To the point where we break and we take down the bar
And forsake all the parts of The Faith that are hard
To embrace after all we've outsmarted the martyrs
We race up the charts- if you trace it to the start
You will find that the way to escape from the dark
And your wake is to carve off the weight and the heart
Of the truth, until everybody loves you
Jesus said woe to you old and new saints
That hold a view that you can go through The Faith
With nobody loathing you, that's a view
That you only can hold when your home is the states
[Hook]
[Verse Three]
The bones that are picked are the bones that depict
That they combed through their homes with the stones and the sticks
The aromas- a stench- so they rose up against them
At home and at Rome- throwing stones at the Christians
Got a hold of them- gripped them, kicked them, scarred them
Saw them, sawed them- they were thrown in a pit
With the toads and the vermin- I'm rolling the clips
It's urgent the scourges- the groans from the licks
The anger, the stranglers, the hangers, the danger
For all of the Christians that rolled in a clique
Ended up in the teeth of the beast that would feast
On the saints that would preach- they were thrown over cliffs
This is not known to exist in the states
Or the place where the home is just bliss
This song is intense- 'cause it's truth
And I'm trying to convince you that no one's exempt
Yet no one's equipped
Got our phones on our clips
Our focus is both on our loans and our cribs
Our fitness- our business has grown in a pinch
Would you fight would you fall
Would you ball up your fist
Would you falter or march to your grave 'cause you're saved
And your life is in Christ and to die is to gain
Would you die in His name
For the rise of His fame
Despising the shame
'Cause you're promised to reign

Would you falter or march to your grave 'cause you're saved
And your life is in Christ and to die is to gain
Would you die in His name
For the rise of His fame
Despising the shame
'Cause you're promised to reign

Lyrics and Videos
I watched the Braveheart and Matrix Videos and also the Robert Bell video posted by Brian.
Here are my thoughts:
Braveheart- not deep enough we wouldn't have much to talk about
Matrix- really violent, not sure it's appropriate, it's difficult to draw the parallel between the resurrected guy's character and us and how we die to live because he apparently could be resurrected b/c he was "the one". We can draw a strong parallel between the resurrected guy and Christ. That would be cool, but like I said, it's a violent scene--that's not to say that Christ's death wasn't violent and yet we would freely watch a scene from the Passion, but this is gun-violence...idk. What do you guys think?
Regarding lyrical analysis, I know most of us are partial to Schedule B, but the final word comes from Lawrence. What's your say Lawrence?? I think that if we keep the lyrical analysis, we should cut it down to one song that talks about resurrection or how we as Christian die to gain life. I think the third verse of the song Mike listed by Da' Truth is good. I also like the Shai Linne song I posted, it's deep so there's room for analyzing. Just my thoughts on that.

And...
The Robert Bell video just talks about dealing with death--it doesn't mesh with the theme.

Also...lol
With the Matrix video we could start playing after the shooting scene. But really thinking about it (and I'm probably just over-analyzing-I tend to do that), the guys who shot the Keanu Reeves would be the equivalent of the Roman guards who carried out Jesus' resurrection, but accurately, the equivalent is us because our sins are what nailed Jesus to the cross. So if we are the equivalent and we're drawing parallels, than according to this movie Jesus is going to destroy us and we should run from Him. We know this is not the case, so we would have to cut the video to about 1 minute from when Keanu is kissed and comes back to life and gets shot at the second time. So, talk to me guys, thoughts, comments, other video suggestions???

This can be used as a Why We Die vid. With it we can ask, "Is this what Jesus meant when He told us to take up our cross and follow Him Matthew 16:24? Of course not, so what does it mean for us to take up our cross? It means for us to die to ourselves, Paul said "I die daily" 1 Cor 15: 31. Btw, I encourage you guys to read 1 Cor 15 esp verses 29-32. It's deep.
